Our HistoryThe Marketing Institute of Singapore Business School (MISBS) was established in 1981 as an education arm to Marketing Institute of Singapore (MIS). A not-for-profit organisation, it serves as a hub for students and working professionals interested to pursue studies in Sales and marketing and business management.

The Institute believes in promoting marketing as a philosophy and developing students holistically with our robust academic framework. The qualifications awarded by MISBS are well regarded and recognised, especially in the fields of Sales and Marketing and business management.

With its practical and up-to-date theoretical approaches in its academic programmes, the Institute's flagship programme, Diploma in Sales and Marketing, was launched in 1981. Since then, this programme has attracted generations of marketers with more than 70 intakes successfully conducted. Today, many other courses ranging from the Certificate to Master Degree levels are offered at the Institute.

Our Milestones The Education Milestones below highlights some of the significant achievements of the Institute:

1981 Launch of the flagship Diploma in Sales and Marketing programme with an inaugural intake of 75 local students.
1984 Launched two new programmes, the Certificate in Sales and Marketing and Advanced Diploma in Marketing.
1985 Pioneered the offshore degree programme (Bachelor of Business -Marketing major) in Southeast Asia with the Western Institute of Technology (Curtin University of Technology).
1986 MIS Skills Business School, funded by the Skills Development Fund, was established to provide selling skills training to sales professionals.
1992 Launch of the Master of Business Administration degree programme in partnership with Curtin University of Technology.
1993 Launched Master of Business Programme (International Marketing) in partnership with Curtin University of Technology.
1994 Adoption of the MISBS Constitution at the inaugural MISBS Annual General Meeting.
1994 Launch of the Certified Professional Marketer ( Asia ) professional status in conjunction with the Asia Pacific Marketing Federation (APMF).
1996 Achieved ISO 9000 certification.
1997 Partnered NUS Extension to jointly offer the Professional Diploma in Asia Pacific Marketing (PDM).
2004 Partnered Northumbria University (UK) to launch two Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degrees in Business Management and Marketing Management and the Master of Business Administration.
2005 One of the first three education organisations in Singapore to be awarded Case Trust status on 7 Feb 2005.
2008 Launched Graduate Diplomas in Brand Management and Business Management.
2010 Awarded the prestigious 4-year EduTrust certification.
2011 First education provider in Southeast and Northeast Asia to attain accreditation by the British Accreditation Council (BAC) for independent further and higher education.
2011 Attained Level Star of the bizSAFE programme – developed by the WSH Council to promote Workplace Safety and Health. Awarded the SS 506 / OHSAS 18001 certification for safety and occupational health.
2011 Launched the Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Business & Management, Master of Science in International Marketing Management and Master of Business Administration programmes in partnership with University of Buckingham (UK).
2012 Launched Post-Graduate Certificate in Asia-Pacific Business Management (PGCAPBM), Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degrees in Marketing, International Business and Tourism Management, along with the Master of Science degree in International Management in partnership with University of the West of England (UK).
2013 Launched Foundation Certificate Programme (FCP), Executive Programme in Asia-Pacific Business (EPAPB) and
2019 Marketing Institute of Singapore Business School renamed to Marketing Institute of Singapore Business School
